Metro Detroiters can audition for Wheel of Fortune on 5/30 and 5/31 from 4-8pm at Chene Park

The Wheelmobile is coming to Metro Detroit...

The Wheelmobile is a 36-foot Winnebago that tours nationwide in search of contestants for television’s #1 game show, Wheel of Fortune, and it is coming our way to find contestants from the Detroit area!

Where can I find the Wheelmobile?

When: Friday & Saturday, May 30th & 31st from 4 PM – 8 PM

Where: Chene Park Detroit Amphitheatre; 2600 Atwater Street; Detroit, MI 48207

There are no admission charges to participate.

Ample parking for the event is available in the immediate adjacent parking lot directly across from the Amphitheatre. There is a $5 charge to park in the Chene Park parking lot. Limited street parking is also available.

The organizers will begin handing out applications one hour before each show begins. Shows will begin at 4:00 PM, 5:30 PM, and 7:00 PM, with each show lasting about an hour. There is no need to arrive hours in advance of the event. Everyone who attends the event will be able to submit an application. The organizers will select participants to come to the stage and audition via a random draw.

How does it work?

There are three Wheel of Fortune shows during each day of a Wheelmobile event. Each show lasts approximately one hour.

Everyone who comes to a Wheelmobile event will receive a color-coded application. The color of the application tells you what time the game you are eligible for will begin.

Fill out your application and drop it in a nearby receptacle. Just before show time, the organizers will put all the applications in a big golden drum that sits on the stage. When the show begins, the Wheelmobile host will pick applications at random from the drum and call participants up to the stage (in groups of five) to play the game.

On stage, the host will do a brief interview with each contestant and play a version of the Wheel of Fortune Speed-Up Round. Wheel of Fortune is looking for good game players who are energetic, enthusiastic and fun. This is your opportunity to shine and show them what you’ve got!

Each person who comes up to the stage will be evaluated as a potential contestant for the show.

At the end of the puzzle all contestants on stage will be awarded a prize. (Wheel of Fortune hats, t-shirts and duffle bags are just some of the stuff you might win.)

After the Wheelmobile event has been conducted, the organizers will choose the people they believe will be the best candidates for the show (based on their overall performance on stage) to take part in a final round of auditions. These final auditions will take place in the Detroit area a few months from now.

The organizers will get as many people up to the stage as we can. However, there will probably be many more folks at the Wheelmobile event than can possibly audition. For this reason, the organizers will reserve some slots in the final auditions for those individuals who attended Wheelmobile events but did not make it up to the stage. After all Wheelmobile events have been conducted, the organizers will draw a number of names at random from all the applications received in the Detroit area for these slots.

If you are invited to the final auditions, you will receive a letter or email within a few months of the last Wheelmobile event.

What are the contestant eligibility requirements?

You must be 18 years of age.

You are not eligible to be a contestant on Wheel of Fortune if you work for, or are related to, anyone who works for Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc., Sony Pictures Television Inc., Sony Electronics Inc., Sony Pictures Television International, Quadra Productions, Inc., CBS Television Distribution Group, Enteractive Solutions Group, The Visionaire Group, Klick Communications Inc., Promotional Consideration Inc., game show prize suppliers, WDIV-TV (including its advertisers and affiliated radio stations), or any TV stations or networks broadcasting Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy!.

You are not eligible to appear on Wheel of Fortune if you have appeared on another game show, dating-relationship show or reality show in the last year or three game shows, dating-relationship shows or reality shows in the last ten years. You are not eligible if you have appeared on any version of Wheel of Fortune, including “Teen Week,” “Wheel 2000,” or the daytime version of the show.

All expenses incurred while interviewing and (if selected as a contestant) appearing on the show, including airfare, hotel, etc. are the responsibility of the applicant.

A contestant audition does not guarantee a spot on the show. The applicant understands that Wheel of Fortune is under no obligation to use him/her as a contestant. It is entirely at the producer's discretion.

Reasonable accommodations shall be made for persons with physical limitations and/or disabilities.

WATCH WHEEL OF FORTUNE WEEKNIGHTS AT 7:00 PM ON WDIV, LOCAL 4 IN METRO DETROIT.

Enjoy and Good Luck!

Aereo comes to Metro Detroit 10/28 - Watch live TV on your laptop or mobile device for $8 a month

Aereo will make it easier for Metro Detroiters to cut the cable cord...

If you have ever thought about cutting the cord on your cable, join the club. Every month that I look at my cable bill I cringe. Services like Hulu Plus and the ABC and NBC mobile apps make the idea of going cable-less more attractive since they enable us to watch selected TV shows after they have aired. And now a new service called Aereo is coming to Metro Detroit on October 28th which will enable its customers to watch LIVE TV on laptops and mobile devices and save shows for later with a remote antenna and DVR for $8 a month.

“We’re thrilled to be launching in the Detroit metro area, the birthplace of Motown and the Motor City." says Aereo CEO and Founder Chet Kanojia. "Across the country, the message from consumers is clear: they want more choice and flexibility when it comes to how they watch television and they don’t want to be fenced into outdated and cumbersome technology. Aereo’s cloud-based antenna/DVR technology brings the old-fashioned antenna into the 21st Century, making television watching simple again.”

Aereo membership begins at $8 per month, for access to Aereo’s cloud-‐based antenna/DVR technology and 20 hours of DVR storage. For an additional $4, consumers can upgrade their membership and receive 60 hours of DVR storage for a total of $12 per month.
