Another year, another birthday, another FREEBIE!

I have been so busy at work and at home that it seems my birthday month is rolling along with no time to redeem my birthday freebies. So yesterday, I took the time to stop and have lunch to redeem a birthday freebie at one of my new favorite restaurants, Bravo!

BRAVO! serves Italian classics with a twist made with authentic old world cooking techniques and the highest-quality ingredients.  The menu includes housemade pasta specialties, pizzas and flatbreads, steaks, chops and seafood. And the atmosphere is elegant and a little quirky with its Roman ruins decor.

I had been going to the Bravo! location in Dearborn, MI for lots of work related functions when I discovered that they had a myBravo! Rewards Program which included a FREE birthday entree in addition to other great perks.  I made sure to signup for the program using my smartphone so that I don't need to carry a rewards card in my wallet.

I received an email before my birthday telling me that a birthday reward had been added to my myBravo! Rewards card. I checked the app on my smartphone and saw that my birthday reward was available for redemption.

To redeem the reward, I used the Bravo! app on my smartphone to pick the location where I was dining for lunch and then I pressed the "Visit Credit" button. The app then produces a unique code that is good for 240 minutes for use only at the Bravo! location where you are dining. Just give that code to your server and up to $15 is taken off the bill for your entree - HOLLA!!!

I currently have other rewards on my card including $10 off my next order so I will be back to Bravo! soon for even more FREE eating.

Buddy's Pizza celebrates 68 years with FREE Customer Appreciation Discount Cards starting 6/23

Buddy’s Pizza turns 68, announces 11th location in Novi and Customer Appreciation Discount Cards...

This year, Buddy’s Pizza will celebrate 68 years of serving up Detroit’s original square Sicilian-style pizza, by bringing its Motor City classic to even more families and pizza fans. The restaurant that established Buddy’s Pizza Day in Detroit on June 23 has officially announced a brand new location is coming to Novi.

An 11th Buddy’s Pizza restaurant will open at Fountain Walk in Novi early this fall. Located on the north end of Twelve Mile Crossing in Fountain Walk, the newest addition to the Buddy’s family will be its largest location to date. The full-service restaurant will include indoor and outdoor seating for more than 200 people and provide ample parking as well as easy accessibility for guests, as it is situated near freeways M-5, I-275, I-696 and I-96.

“With the addition of our new Novi location, we’ll expand Buddy’s Pizza into Northwestern Wayne and Southwestern Oakland counties, making Detroit’s original square pizza more accessible to the fans that’ve made the brand a favorite across the region and the country,” said Robert Jacobs, Buddy’s Pizza president.

Designed by Northville-based Martone Design Studio, the new Novi location will feature an urban, retro-styled interior and exterior, including a main lobby, outdoor dining area, main bar, dining room, banquet room, carry out room, modern restrooms and kitchen.

The 8,000 square feet restaurant will carry on Buddy’s Pizza’s legacy with strong undertones of automotive design and Detroit’s industrial history. The grand opening for Buddy’s Pizza in Novi is pending early fall.

Buddy’s Pizza staff and management have long made it a tradition to recognize those have contributed to the restaurants’ success over the decades across metro Detroit, the guests they consider family.

Beginning Buddy’s Pizza Day on Monday, June 23, all Buddy’s Pizza locations will offer 2014 customer appreciation cards.

Once per month through the end of the year, cardholders will be able to purchase an 8-square cheese pizza for $6.80 and add extra toppings for 68 cents each – a nod to the restaurant’s 68 years of business in Detroit. 

Appreciation cards will be available at all 10 Buddy’s Pizza locations through June 30, or while supplies last. No purchase is necessary.  

Each year, these FREE discount cards are totally gone within hours so make sure you go into your local Buddy's Pizza location on Monday, June 23rd to make sure you get yours. Remember, no purchase is necessary to get this great discount card.

Metro Detroiters are asked to bring nonperishable food items to FREE Shred Day to benefit Gleaners Food Bank...

Comerica Bank and Iron Mountain Incorporated announced they will partner to host the seventh annual community Shred Day at Comerica’s Livonia Operations Center located at 39200 6 Mile Road (6 Mile & Haggerty) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2014

According to the U.S. Department of Justice’s most recent report, more than 16 million adults were victims of identity theft in 2012. Shred Day is designed to help prevent metro Detroiters from becoming victims and to raise awareness about proper recycling methods. Shredding personal documents is one of the most effective ways to prevent sensitive information from making it into the wrong hands.

Iron Mountain will shred boxes or bags of paper documents at the event, which is FREE and open to the public. 

After being securely destroyed, all shredded material will be made into pulp and recycled.

“Comerica Bank is pleased to partner with Iron Mountain to raise awareness of the dangers of identity theft and help members of our communities destroy the personal documents identity thieves seek,” said Linda Forte, senior vice president of Business Affairs, Comerica Bank. “It’s our hope that Shred Day will help prevent people from becoming identity theft victims.”

For the second year, Comerica is encouraging everyone to help the community while protecting their identity by donating nonperishable food items to Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan. Volunteers will be onsite to collect donations.

The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) is providing FREE bus transportation to and from the museum on Saturday, April 5, for Wayne County residents. Visitors can browse the collection, take part in an art-making activity, view two free exhibitions, or see the Samurai: Beyond the Sword exhibition at the discounted group rate of $12 per person.

Residents in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties get FREE admission to the DIA.

In addition to great art, the DIA has two restaurants: Café DIA and Kresge Court. The museum shop has a variety of gifts, many of which cannot be found in other area stores. A special Samurai: Beyond the Sword shop is also available, with many objects imported from Japan (no visit to the exhibition is necessary to access the shop).

The special Wayne County Day is provided thanks to Wayne County residents, who voted to support the DIA through last year’s millage. The museum recently held a Macomb County Day and Oakland County Day is on March 29.

Buddy's Pizza celebrates 67 years with Customer Appreciation Cards & New Menu - STARTS 6/24

Buddy’s Pizza unveils 4 new thin crust options and Customer Appreciation Discounts...

On Monday, June 24, 2013, each Buddy's restaurant will celebrate Buddy’s Pizza Day and Buddy’s 67 years of business in Detroit, by offering customers appreciation cards.

Once a month through the end of the 2013, cardholders can purchase an 8-square cheese pizza for $6.70 and add extra toppings for 67 cents each.

Customer Appreciation cards will be available June 24th through June 29th, or while supplies last at each Buddy's Restaurant location.

Sixty-seven years after Buddy’s Pizza originated the Sicilian-style square on the corner of Conant and Six Mile, the family-owned restaurants are serving up something new - in skinnier boxes. Nearly seven decades since the Motor City favorite got its start, Buddy’s Pizza has added brand new options to its menu that are sure to have tastebuds talking.

From gluten-free and multigrain crusts to vegan and antioxidant options, offering a variety of choices without sacrificing the famed Buddy’s flavor is nothing new to this Detroit institution. That’s never been more apparent than it is this month, as Buddy’s Pizza introduces Buddy’s Detroit’s Original Square Sicilian Style Thin Crust Pizza.

“This year, Buddy’s is excited to announce our new Sicilian Style Thin Crust Pizzas,” said Robert Jacobs, Buddy’s Pizza president. “Handcrafted from our famous original dough, Motor City Cheese Blend and tomato basil sauce, we’ve developed four new pizzas – each with a thin, light, crunchy crust and bold new flavors.”

The new Buddy’s Detroit’s Original Square Sicilian Style Thin Crust Pizza will be available beginning June 24, 2013. The collection includes the following brand new pizzas:

- New Yorker – Pepperoni, roasted garlic, tomato basil sauce, oregano and grated Parmesan cheese.
- Mediterranean – Red onions, spinach, beets, tomato basil sauce, fresh dill and feta cheese.
- Pomodoro – Grilled scallions, roasted tomatoes, roasted garlic, tomato basil sauce, Asiago and grated Parmesan cheeses.
- Ultimate Italian – Italian sausage, red onions, roasted red peppers, roasted garlic, tomato basil sauce, Sicilian spice blend and grated Parmesan cheese.

Like Buddy’s traditional pizzas, the process for creating these new thin crust pizzas consists of hand-stretching and proofing the dough; adding a sprinkle of the Motor City Cheese Blend - a tasty combination of Fontinella, Parmesan and Wisconsin brick cheeses; spreading select toppings; then topping it off with Buddy’s tomato basil sauce in true Sicilian style.

As all of Buddy’s original pizzas, the new thin crust collection will be available at the restaurant’s nine metro Detroit locations in Auburn Hills, Bloomfield Hills, Dearborn, Detroit, Farmington Hills, Grosse Pointe, Livonia, Royal Oak and Warren.

Last year, Buddy's special Customer Appreciation Cards were all gone the first day they were offered. So be sure to go to your local Buddy's on Monday, June 24th to make sure you get yours.

Comerica and Iron Mountain team up to provide FREE document shredding services 6/15 LIVONIA

Comerica Bank Helps Metro Detroiters Protect Against Identity Theft During Shred Day

Comerica Bank and Iron Mountain to host sixth annual FREE community Shred Day on June 15th Metro Detroiters are asked to bring nonperishable food items to benefit Gleaners Food Bank.

Comerica Bank and Iron Mountain Incorporated have partnered to host the sixth annual community Shred Day at Comerica’s Livonia Operations Center located at 39200 6 Mile Road (6 Mile & Haggerty) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 15th.

Last year, more than 12 million adults became victims of identity theft. Shred Day is designed to help prevent metro Detroiters from becoming victims and to raise awareness about proper recycling methods. Shredding personal documents is one of the most effective ways to prevent sensitive information from making it into the wrong hands.

Iron Mountain will shred boxes or bags of paper documents at the event, which is free and open to the public.

After being securely destroyed, all shredded material will be made into pulp and recycled. “Comerica Bank is pleased to partner with Iron Mountain for the sixth consecutive year to offer such an important service free of charge to metro Detroiters,” said Linda Forte, senior vice president of Business Affairs, Comerica Bank.

“It’s our hope that Shred Day not only raises awareness of the seriousness of identity theft, but also helps prevent people from becoming victims. Forte notes that this year, there will be volunteers from Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan onsite to collect donations of nonperishable food items. “We encourage everyone to help the community while they’re protecting their identity,” she explains.
