Kroger has issued a challenge to the public: for every Kroger brand canned good donated, Kroger will MATCH the donations up to $5,000! All donations benefit Gleaners Food Bank.

For more than 35 years, Gleaners Community Food Bank has been “nourishing communities by feeding hungry people.” Last year, Gleaners distributed 45 million pounds of emergency food to over 600 partner soup kitchens, shelters and pantries in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston and Monroe counties. Gleaners alleviates hunger by providing the equivalent of 97,344 meals per day to people who otherwise cannot afford the food they need.

Donate to Gleaners. Every dollar donated, Gleaners uses 94 cents for food and food programs. One dollar provides three meals for a hungry neighbor. To learn more about Gleaners, visit www.GCFB.org

Dunkin’ Donuts Thanks the Local Community with Six-Cent Coffee at Six Metro Detroit Restaurants on June 6th

As a thank you to the local community, six recently remodeled and new Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants in the Metro Detroit area are offering guests a medium hot or iced coffee for six-cents on Wednesday, June 6, 2012, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

They will also be offering samples of some of their sandwiches and beverages.

“Dunkin’ Donuts is excited to offer any medium-sized hot or iced coffee for only six-cents as a way to celebrate the unofficial start of summer and to thank our loyal guests in Metro Detroit,” said Nick Spencer, Senior Marketing Manager at Dunkin’ Brands. “We remain committed to growing the Dunkin’ Donuts brand in the Metro Detroit market and we look forward to keeping our guests running any time of day with Dunkin’ Donuts coffee and baked goods.”

FREE Children's Movie Festival at MJR Digital Cinemas every Saturday/Sunday 2/25 - 3/25

MJR Digital Cinemas will hold its FREE Spring Children's Film Festival every Saturday and Sunday from Feb. 25 through March 25

The event is FREE for children under 12. Parents will be admitted for $1.

Tickets cannot be purchased in advance and will be distributed on a first-come, first served basis until theatres are filled to capacity.

The festival will include the following films:

•Puss In Boots (PG), 2/25-26

•Happy Feet 2 (PG), 3/3-4

•Jack & Jill (PG), 3/10-11

•Adventures of Tin Tin (PG), 3/17-18

•Alvin & the Chipmunks, Chipwrecked (G), 3/24-25

All nine southeast Michigan MJR locations are participating: Adrian, Allen Park, Brighton, Chesterfield Township, Clinton Township, Southgate, Sterling Heights, Waterford and Westland.

96.3 WDVD & 93.1 Doug-FM present Canned Film Festival,Thursday, November 11, 2010 at MJR Digital Cinemas.  Anyone who brings at least five cans of food to any MJR Digital Cinema (excluding the Adrian location) will get free admission to any movie, that day only, any time from 4:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.  It’s a “win-win” situation to help feed the area’s hungry while getting to see a first-run movie! 

            96.3 WDVD’s Morning Show, Blaine and Allyson in the Morning, will be broadcasting live from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the MJR Southgate Digital Cinema 20 located at 15651 Trenton Road, Southgate, MI 48195. 

          All canned food donated during the Canned Film Festival will be collected and distributed by Gleaners Food Bank to food providers in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb and Livingston Counties. Kroger has issued a challenge to the public: for every Kroger brand canned good donated, Kroger will MATCH the donations up to $1,000! Last year’s Canned Film Festival was highly successful with over 8,000 people attending the five MJR Digital Cinemas and donating 45,000 pounds of food!

Pistons Days at Meijer

The Pistons have teamed up once again with Meijer to present “Pistons Days at Meijer” - the closest Pistons experience you’ll find outside The Palace of Auburn Hills.

The Pistons’ mascot, Hooper, and members from Palace Patrol and Automotion will visit different Meijer locations in Southeastern Michigan during the 2009-10 season. Meijer shoppers also will have a chance to win Pistons posters, jerseys, and even tickets to an upcoming game by spinning the Pistons Prize Wheel.

To complete the experience, a Pistons player will be there to meet fans and sign autographs. Fans can pick up a free autograph card or bring a personal item. To keep the line moving, fans are asked to refrain from requesting multiple autographs or a posed picture.
