REVIEW: #RinglingBros "Legends" at the Palace of Auburn Hills - #RinglingLEGENDS

Ringling Bros. Legends show thrills from beginning to end...

On Wednesday night, my son and I were the guests of Feld Entertainment for opening night of the Ringling Bros. "Legends" show at the Palace of Auburn Hills.  Every year I wonder how Ringling Bros. can top the show from the previous year, and some how they to manage to make it bigger and better each time.

This year's show was exciting from beginning to end.  We loved everything from the animal acts to the clowns to the motorcycles in the steel cage of death.  The show was very beautiful with big screens that blended with the acts and costumes that shined all the way up to the top of the arena.

This year there was also a lot of information given about the elephants - their day to day schedule, how they are cared for, what the eat, and even how they sleep.

My favorite act every year is the Steel Cage of Death.  I have no idea how the motorcyclists do what they do and never get hurt.  (see my instagram video above or follow me on instagram at www.instagram.com/freeismylife)

And the aerialists had everyone on the edge of their seats when they performed 4 triple somersaults in a row.  (see my instagram video above or follow me on instagram at www.instagram.com/freeismylife)

COUPON CODE: Get $5 off your Shrine Circus Tickets at Hazel Park Raceway

The circus has arrived in metro Detroit!!!

Friday morning the gleaming red semi-trucks rolled into the Hazel Park Raceway with the circus performers, animals, and props for this year's Detroit Shrine Circus. The Big Top and other circus tents are expected to go up today, with the fine details of the site finalized over the coming days.

It's been a year in coming, but they're close to show time. The Shrine circus will run from March 30 to April 1, then again April 6-8, with one day at Port Huron's McMorran Place, April 3.

The 2012 Circus features an all-new show, including one of the nation's few tiger acts, Arabian horses, and an irresistible elephant revue, as well as thrilling international acts and the favorite Shrine clowns.

"The Shrine Circus is Detroit's hometown circus -- a wholesome, affordable family experience," explained William Petrocy, Circus Director. "The Shrine Circus offers local involvement and local people... When you come to this Circus you'll see your neighbor there with his Shrine fez on working in the Circus."

Highlights of this year's Circus include:

- Magnificent Big Cats: The Terranova Wild Tiger Act
- Classical Clown Comedy Capers featuring Piolita, from Europe
- Bicycle Comedy Galore with the Antonino Troupe
- Elegant Equestrianism: The Zerbini Liberty Horses, trained and presented by Erika Zerbini
- Neecha: Acclaimed High Wire Artists
- Captivating Canines featuring the softer side of the Amazing Dobermans
- Freestyle Motor Show

The Circus will also feature the acclaimed Detroit Shrine Clown Unit and a children's petting zoo, where kids can get close to horses, camels, elephants and other animals they would otherwise only find in a zoo.

Seats start at $25. Show times are 10:30 a.m., 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available by going to www.detroitshrinecircus.com or call 866-992-CIRCUS.

Established in Detroit in 1906, the Shrine Circus is found in many cities throughout North America. Proceeds benefit the operations of the Shriners.

Living for the (FREE) Weekend in Metro Detroit - March 19th - March 21st

Here is a highlight of the FREE activities you can do this weekend in the Detroit Area and beyond:

If you are near West Bloomfield, make an appointment for a FREE 50 minute session in the Neuroacoustic Sound Therapy Chair at Vita in the Henry Ford Hospital West Bloomfield. The sessions are FREE from 10am to 4pm on Friday, March 19th as part of the hospital's one year anniversary celebration. I took a tour of the hospital this week and it is fabulous. Vita, which is the hospital's wellness center, looks just like a luxury spa. One hour in the Sound Therapy Chair is equivalent to a 3 hour nap!
.
The Shrine Circus is back in town. After not having a home when the Michigan State Fair grounds closed, the circus is back and ready to entertain Detroiters at their new location at the Hazel Park Raceway. You can get half price tickets to the 3/19 Friday 4pm and 7pm shows.
.
Friday is the last day of the FREE public viewing at the 53rd Annual Science and Engineering Fair of Metro Detroit.  The middle and high school students did a fabulous job with their science projects this year.  Please stop by and take a look for yourself.
.
If you are an art lover, you can get a FREE guided tour of the controversial Heidelberg Art Project on Saturday March 20th. Registration is required.

Oakland Mall in Troy has opened their yearly FREE Butterfly House where kids (and adults) can hang out with the lovely creatures, get information on how they live and do craft projects.
.
Peter Cotton Tail is hopping down the Easter bunny trail to Art Van Furniture at their Port Huron, Comstock Park, Novi, and Southfield stores on Saturday, March 20th from 1-3pm. Be sure to bring your cameras for FREE photos.

The Detroit Science Center is hosting another FREE FunDay sponsored by Ford Motor Company on Sunday, March 21st. There will be FREE IMAX movies, a Dr. Seuss Birthday bash, author book readings, and chemistry demonstrations. And it is all FREE!

The Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD) is hosting a FREE Family day on Sunday, March 21st were everyone can create and decorate their own pinatas and cascarones.

While you are out, be sure to stop by your local Sephora inside of JCPenney to get your FREE Sephora Mascara. Make sure that you print the coupon. This offer is good while supplies last.

Have a wonderful and blessed weekend...

REVIEW: The Ringling Bros. & Barnum & Bailey Circus is "OVER THE TOP" GREAT!

Last night, my son and I went to the Palace of Auburn Hills for the opening night performance of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey "Over the Top" Circus.

The show was fabulous. It was like a high tech video game come to life with booming bass music, high tech monitors showing images that coordinated with the acts, virtual "rings" (as in the typical 3 ring circus) that appeared and disappeared as needed, beautiful stage costumes, amazing trick horse riders, dozens of motorcycle riders who performed amazing tricks on the ground and in the air, pyrotechnic explosions, and unexpected confetti drops - it was totally OVER THE TOP!

For the traditionalists, this circus still has the old favorites of crazy clowns, dog and pony acts, talented pigs, dancing elephants and amazing tiger acts. I did not know how Ringling Bros. were going to top last year's "Bellobration" circus, but this year's "Over the Top" show is completely retooled and brings a totally unique experience.

The Ringling Brothers & Barnum & Bailey "Over the Top" Circus will be at the Palace of Auburn Hills through this Sunday, November 22nd. Please don't miss it...
