Free DSO Community Concert seat reservations available now...

For the seventh consecutive year, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) will perform four FREE community concerts this fall at venues across Metro Detroit, presented by DTE Energy Foundation. All four concerts will be conducted by Associate Conductor Michelle Merrill.

This year’s concerts will take place:

· Thursday, September 28 at 7:30 p.m. at Ford Community & Performing Arts Center in Dearborn

· Friday, September 29 at 10:45 a.m. at Greater Grace Temple in Detroit

· Saturday, September 30 at 8 p.m. at Clawson High School in Clawson

· Sunday, October 1 at 3 p.m. at Lakeview High School in St. Clair Shores

On Thursday, September 7 beginning at 6:30 p.m., a DSO string quartet will promote the concerts with a pop-up performance at Kuhnhenn Brewing Company in Warren.

For 50 years the DTE Energy Foundation has supported the DSO and its cultural programs, and the Foundation is proud to help the Orchestra bring music to diverse and underserved communities throughout Southeast Michigan. In spring 2016, DTE Energy Foundation awarded the DSO with a three-year grant to continue offering these free community concerts each fall. It also includes endowment support for music education, senior citizen outreach and additional community engagement programming.

“The DSO free community concert series provides everyone with the opportunity to experience, appreciate and learn about music from an outstanding symphony orchestra,” said Faye Nelson, vice president at DTE Energy, and board chair and president of the DTE Energy Foundation. “Music and the arts are integral to a strong quality of life. Through the support of this historic cultural institution and its programs, the DTE Energy Foundation is ensuring that people across Southeast Michigan have access to a world-class organization that inspires and infuses our communities with art.”

While the concerts are free admission, a seat reservation is required for entry. Seats can be reserved now at dso.org, by calling (313) 576-5111, or in person at the Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center Box Office (3711 Woodward Ave., Detroit).

All concerts are general admission (no seats will be assigned), and all seating is first-come, first-served. All concert venues are handicap accessible.
