FREE Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) Community Concert Tickets #DTEpowersDSO

FREE Tickets available now for performances in Brighton, Detroit, Garden City...

Following a review of 15 compelling finalists, four venues have been selected for FREE Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) concerts in October. The 5-person panel considered dozens of letters of support from community members, hundreds of online comments and some 14,000 votes from the pool of nominees. Brighton Center for the Performing Arts in Livingston County, Garden City High School in Wayne County, Greater Grace Temple in Wayne County and Lake Orion High School in Oakland County will host DTE Energy Foundation Presents the DSO in Your Community concerts.

“The nomination process is really a fun and creative way to engage our communities while exposing thousands of individuals to the DSO experience,” said Faye Nelson, vice president of Public Affairs for DTE Energy and president of the DTE Energy Foundation. “The Foundation’s long-time partnership with the DSO is part of a broader commitment to support the cultural institutions that entertain and inspire the customers we serve.”

While the concerts are FREE admission, a ticket is required for entry. FREE Family Fun Days hosted by Panera Bread 2/13 3/13 4/10 5/8 6/12 9/11 10/9 11/13 12/11

Panera Bread and United Way for Southeastern Michigan Team Up to Host FREE Family Fun Days

Panera Bread has partnered with Early Learning Communities, a United Way for Southeastern Michigan (UWSEM) program, to provide free educational activities and information for children and their parents on the second Saturday of each month during the school year.

Early Learning Communities is a network of neighborhood-based hubs providing free training and resources to parents and caregivers of children aged birth to five.

From 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on select dates, children will participate in educational crafts and reading activities. While the children play, parents will have the opportunity to learn about the Early Learning Communities program and how to best prepare children for school. The events are open to all ages.

The Early Learning Communities was started to ensure that all children enter kindergarten ready to succeed. Research shows that the first three years of life are critical to a child’s ultimate success in school and in life, making it an important time to intervene to guarantee long-term achievement.

“Studies have shown that children who can’t read by first grade will spend their entire lifetime catching up,” said Annemarie Harris, director of early childhood initiatives for UWSEM. “In partnership with Panera Bread, we hope to bring families together to discuss how parents can get their children ready for school.”

United Way for Southeastern Michigan is Panera Bread’s Operation Dough-Nation® partner in metro Detroit. For all donations made to Panera’s Community Breadbox, located near the registers, Panera matches a portion back to UWSEM.
