Get 50% off at The Salvation Army Thrift Stores for their New Year's Day Sale - 1/1 ONLY

Count down the New Year with The Salvation Army with 50% off deals on January 1st and 2014 tax deductions for donations....

As the new year approaches, The Salvation Army Southeast Michigan Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) is seeking year-end donations at the nonprofit’s 34 metro Detroit family thrift stores. Now through Dec. 31, patrons are invited to drop off their gently used clothing, linens, home goods and more to receive a 2014 tax receipt.

“As we reflect upon the year, many of us will be seeking ways to give back to the community,” said Merle Miller, administrator of The Salvation Army Southeast Michigan ARC. “By donating your gently-used goods to The Salvation Army family thrift stores, you’re helping provide hope to men and women struggling with substance abuse.”

“Donating at The Salvation Army thrift stores is super easy,” said Jacqulynn Idzior, director of operations at The Salvation Army Southeast Michigan ARC. “Each of our stores has a conveniently located donation center with drive-up access, so patrons don’t even need to get out of their car.”

Contributions of gently used clothing, linen, household appliances, furniture, toys, shoes, purses and housewares are accepted at all Salvation Army thrift store donation centers. For specific hours of your local Salvation Army thrift store donation center, visit

Community members will also have the option of donating to the ARC at multiple remote drop-off locations in partnership with Gardner-White Furniture. Donations will be accepted at each of Gardner-White’s metro Detroit locations during normal business hours, now through the end of the year. To find a Gardner-White Furniture store near you, visit

All donations to The Salvation Army are tax deductible. Donate before Jan. 1, 2015 to receive a tax receipt that can be applied towards 2014 taxes. Salvation Army thrift stores will be open until midnight on December 31 for last minute 2014 tax year contributions.
