Students!!! Attend a Detroit Symphony Orchestra Concert for as little as $5 with DSO Soundcard Discount Program

Students can attend concerts and try out Soundcard for $5...

The Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) has received a generous grant from General Motors (GM) to expand the Soundcard student discount program. Created under the leadership of Music Director Leonard Slatkin, Soundcard allows students of any age to attend more than 100 DSO concerts for an annual fee of just $25.

The GM grant aims to expand access to the orchestra with the creation of Soundcard sampler weekends. During these weekends, students interested in Soundcard can attend concerts for just $5, and pay the remaining $20 to join the program afterwards. Additionally, companions of members—including parents or other non-student attendees ineligible for the Soundcard membership—can pay just $5 to attend sampler weekend concerts rather than purchasing full-price tickets.

Sampler weekend concerts include:

Russian Portraits

Thursday, November 30 at 7:30 p.m.

Friday, December 1 at 8 p.m.

Saturday, December 2 at 8 p.m.

French Festival Week 1

“Attracting a younger and more diverse audience has been a major goal for me during my tenure in Detroit,” says Music Director Leonard Slatkin. “With the Soundcard initiative, we have been able to reach many more listeners in our community, especially people who have never attended a performance in Orchestra Hall. The Soundcard is one of my proudest achievements, and I am thrilled that General Motors has been so generous in their support of this project.”
