FREE Bus Transportation to Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) for Wayne County Residents on 10/11

Detroit Institute of Arts says “Leave the Driving to Us” for Wayne County Day...

The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) is providing FREE bus transportation to and from the museum on Saturday, Oct. 11 for Wayne County residents as part of its “County Days,” which provides this service four times per year for residents of Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.

In additional to the FREE transportation. general admission to the Detroit Institute of Arts (excludes ticketed exhibitions) is FREE for Wayne, Oakland and Macomb county residents.

Visitors can browse the collection, take part in an art-making activity and view the free exhibition Ordinary People by Extraordinary Artists: Works on Paper by Degas, Renoir and Friends.

Shopping and eating are always part of a fun day, and the DIA has plenty of both. Café DIA offers entrees, a decked-out salad bar, grill station, sandwiches and scrumptious desserts. Kresge Court diners can enjoy gourmet snacks, sandwiches, salads and desserts. Both restaurants offer a variety of beverages, including Starbucks coffee, beer and wine. The museum shop carries a selection of art-related items, many of which cannot be found in other area stores.

Convenient parking is available at each departure location.

Kennedy Recreation Center, 3101 West Rd. Trenton—Picasso Bus
Bus departs Recreation Center at 9:30 a.m. – use northwest parking area; Bus departs DIA at 2 p.m.

Allen Park Community Center, 15800 White St.—Warhol Bus
Bus departs Community Center at 9:30 a.m.; Bus departs DIA at 2 p.m.

The DIA hosted County Days this year in March and July. The next Oakland County Day is Oct. 18 and the next Macomb County Day is Oct. 25.

DIA Hours and Admission
Museum hours are 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Tuesdays–Thursdays, 9 a.m.–10 p.m. Fridays, and 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

The event is free to the public; however, there is a $5 suggested donation for parking. FREE parking is available in downtown Trenton with free shuttle provided by Smart Transportation at the corner of Jefferson and West Road, also Jefferson and Elm to the entrance of Elizabeth Park.

The park will be open to the public on both days beginning at Noon, and will close after the final performance.

Elizabeth Park is located off Jefferson, east of I-75, south of West Road in Trenton. Take I-75 South to the West Road exit and follow West Road east to Jefferson. Take Jefferson south into the park.

FREE Detroit Pistons Meijer Days - Meet the Players & Hooper 12/4 1/16 2/12 2/27 3/5 3/14 3/27

Pistons players to make local appearances
The Pistons have teamed up once again with Meijer to present "Pistons Days at Meijer" - the closest Pistons experience you'll find outside The Palace of Auburn Hills.
The Pistons' mascot, Hooper, and members from Palace Patrol and Automotion will visit eight different Meijer locations in Southeastern Michigan during the 2010-11 season. Meijer shoppers also will have a chance to win Pistons posters, jerseys, and even tickets to an upcoming game by spinning the Pistons Prize Wheel.
To complete the experience, a Pistons player will be there during the final hour of the event to meet fans and sign autographs. Fans can pick up a free autograph card or bring a personal item. To keep the line moving, fans are asked to refrain from requesting multiple autographs or a posed picture.
