Celebrate the beginning of a new school year with DIA staff and your fellow educators and get an exclusive, educators-only preview experience of a brand-new DIA program, DIA Away.

DIA Away is a free, mobile interactive classroom that brings educational, hands-on art experiences to schools throughout Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties. The design of the creative exploration space and selection of artists and activities were made with students and teachers in mind as a key audience. DIA Away is designed to coordinate with school curriculum standards; elementary, middle and high school teachers will find direct links to both the National Visual Arts Standards and Common Core Standards for English/Language Arts.

- Explore the galleries with a DIA gallery teacher who will model the school field trip experience. Tours start at 4:30pm and will be offered throughout the event.

- Learn about new developments in DIA school resources and education programs.

- Enjoy light refreshments and conversations with colleagues.

- Enter a drawing for a Detroit staycation!
