Emerica Presents “Wild in the Streets” to Gather Skateboarders in Detroit

Emerica footwear presents “Wild in the Streets 2012” on Thursday, June 21, 2012. On National Go Skateboarding Day, “Wild in the Streets” will gather skateboarders of every walk of life to ride on the city streets of Detroit in celebration of pure skateboarding. Join the Emerica team and thousands of skateboarders from across the globe for this monumental event in Detroit, Michigan.

For “Wild in the Streets 2012”, Emerica has partnered with Power House Productions to benefit RideIt Sculpture Park, a neighborhood revitalization project. Power House Productions is a nonprofit organization, whose current project is to develop a do-it-yourself style skatepark built by skateboarders. The goal of this project is to create a space where neighborhood kids and adults can meet, play, exercise and more.

Boards for Bros is a group of skateboarders who are dedicated to collecting and refurbishing skateboards, which are then redistributed back into communities where kids can not afford their own. The beneficiaries of the 2012 Emerica/Boards for Bros efforts will be the children of the Power House neighborhood. Donate old completes, decks, trucks and wheels to Boards for Bros at the following locations. Those who donate will receive a same-day 10 percent discount on Emerica products.

* Chiipss Skateboards & Apparel
* Plus Skateboarding
* Detroit City Skateboards
* Refuge Skateboard Shop
* Oakland Vert Skatepark
* Modern Skate & Surf
* Tru Class SkateShop

One of the shops that is accepting donations for Boards for Bros is Modern Skate & Surf. To celebrate National Go Skateboarding Day on June 21, Modern Skate Park is also offering FREE skateboarding all day.

Located in Royal Oak, Michigan, Modern Skate is home to a world-class indoor riding facility. The 80,000 sq. foot park was designed and constructed by the world-known skatepark builders, Team Pain.
