New Salvation Army Thrift Store opens 3/9 in Taylor with FREE food, raffles and a guest appearance by PAWS

March 9th, check with the New Salvation Army Thrift Store opening with PAWS of The Detroit Tigers, Metro Detroit Food Truck Rally, fashion raffle and great deals!

Join the celebration as The Salvation Army Southeast Michigan Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) opens its 34th metro Detroit thrift store in Taylor at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 9 with great deals, meals and fashion finds. The new 25,000 sq. ft. store is located at 9830 Telegraph between Wick and Goddard.

“This is an exciting time for us at The Salvation Army ARC as we open our newest Family Thrift Store,” said Merle Miller, administrator of the Salvation Army Southeast Michigan ARC. “We’re pleased to extend our outreach to the families we serve downriver by way of the new Taylor store.”

The grand opening festivities begin at 9 a.m. with FREE coffee and donuts, hot dogs and a special guest appearance from PAWS of the Detroit Tigers from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. four of metro Detroit’s best mobile food vendors will serve up meals during a Motor City Street Eats food truck rally, including Green Zebra, new American-style; People’s Pierogi Collective, gourmet Polish dumplings; Debajo del Sol, Spanish-style tapas; and Treat Dreams, unique gourmet flavored ice cream.

For every $50 spent, guests will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win one of four outfits styled by noted Detroit fashion and beauty blogger Shannon Lazovski of the Detroit Fashion News and Glamorous Moms. Raffle entrants need not be present to win.

“We’re so excited to have the food trucks and PAWS onsite to make the day more special for the families we serve,” Miller said. “It truly is a celebration.”

The store will be open Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and open for donations only on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Contributions of gently used clothing, accessories, housewares, furniture and toys are accepted at the donation center located in the rear of the building.

Proceeds from all 34 metro Detroit Salvation Army thrift stores benefit The Salvation Army Southeast Michigan Adult Rehabilitation Center’s independently funded, 180-day residential rehabilitation program for adults.
