FREE 41th Annual Noel Night 12/7 5-10pm in Midtown Detroit

Don't miss the 41st annual Noel Night event...

The 41st annual Noel Night will take place on Saturday, December 7th, 2013, from 5:00pm-10:00pm in Midtown Detroit.

Over 70 Midtown venues, including the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Michigan Science Center, the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, the Detroit Historical Museum, and the Detroit Public Library, amongst many others, will open their doors to the public FREE of CHARGE during this Cultural Center-wide holiday "open house."

Activities will include holiday shopping, horse-drawn carriage rides, family craft activities and performances by over 200 area music, theatre, and dance groups. The evening's festivities will culminate with a community sing-along on Woodward Avenue led by the Salvation Army Band—a long-standing Noel Night tradition.

Free shuttle service is offered between participating venues. Convenient parking is available in area lots. Noel Night is produced by Midtown Detroit, Inc., a nonprofit community development organization that supports economic growth in Detroit's Midtown district.

Some of the Noel Night events include -

- Celebrating nearly five decades of performing and recording, Tony award winner Melba Moore will perform soulful holiday and gospel songs at the First Congregational Church (33 E. Forest) at 8:30pm.

- Apetechnology is a Detroit-based electomechancial and sound collective that has been commissioned by the Detroit Institute of Arts to develop three Infatotangel robots for Noel Night.  You will find them outside of the DIA's John R Entrance.

- The Detroit Public Library will provide FREE cider, doughnuts and GOOD Cookies® (while supplies last) and a hot DJ spinning holiday hits for you to dance those calories away. Santa Claus will also be 'in the house' to listen to kids' requests and to take photos.

Detroit Public Main Library events include a headlining performance by the Martha Redbone Roots Project in the newly renamed, "Clara Stanton Jones Friends Auditorium!" For all book lovers, the library will host a Holiday Book Sale by the Friends Foundation to benefit our Summer Reading Program.
