Comerica Bank Announces Free Money Smart Week Activities April 17-24 in Detroit

To celebrate April as Financial Literacy Month, Comerica Bank is partnering with area organizations for various activities during Money Smart Week, April 17-24.

To highlight its financial literacy commitment to Detroit, Comerica will host free special events during the week, including a Money Smart Festival and a financial literacy program geared toward senior citizens.

“This economic climate presents a great opportunity for people to boost their money management knowledge," said Loretta Smith, vice president and Michigan Community Reinvestment Act manager for Comerica. "Many people don't know where to turn when it comes to money matters. We hope that our Money Smart Week programming will help people learn how to take control of their finances."

Comerica’s free Money Smart Week events across Detroit include:

· Money Smart Festival, April 17 from 3-6 p.m. The public is invited to learn how to manage money, credit cards and savings. Free.

· Protecting Your Investment, April 22 from 12-2 p.m. Learn the basic principles of budgeting and keeping money safe. Also, learn about money scams and fraud and how they may affect senior citizens. Free to seniors. Call (313) 928-2828 to register by April 20.
