Food Review: Marie Callender's Pot Pies

Tastes as good as the expensive restaurant version ...

When I was a kid, I loved when my mom would cook pot pies for dinner.  I remember smelling them as they were baking and anticipating how delicious they were going to taste after they finally cooled down enough for us to eat.

On a cold winter day, there was just something about digging in to a nice warm pot pie with the flaky crust, tender turkey and yummy veggies that made everything homey and safe.  A few weeks ago I went out to lunch at a famous local Detroit area restaurant with Laura from LauraintheMotorCity.com and I treated myself to a pot pie.  The experience brought back all those memories from childhood because the pot pie tasted so good.  I loved the meal, but not the high price that I paid.

So when The Motherhood asked me if I would review a frozen pot pie made by Marie Callender's, I jumped at the chance.  I L-O-V-E Marie Callender's line of meals. Of all the store lines of microwavable meals, Marie Callender's meals always taste the best, and their pot pie is no exception.

The Marie Callender's Turkey Pot Pie was just as good as the expensive one that I ate for lunch at the local Detroit restaurant.  The crust was flaky and the turkey was tender and moist.  I shamefully ate the whole thing right down to the last bite of crust.  Due the calories in pot pies (there is not such thing as a delicious diet pot pie), I would not suggest eating them on a daily basis.  But they are perfect when you want to indulge your family with a great tasting, hearty meal on a cold winter day.

Marie Callender's Pot Pies are available in a host of flavor varieties including Turkey, Beef, Chicken, Cheesy Chicken, Creamy Mushroom Chicken, Creamy Parmesan Chicken and Honey Roasted Chicken.

The suggested retail price of Marie Callender's Pot Pies is under $3. Click here for more information on Marie Callender's Pot Pies.
