Milford Holiday Special Events every Thursday from Nov. 18 - Dec. 23 (except Thanksgiving Day).

“Thursdays Unwrapped” Promises Holiday Hustle & Bustle in Downtown Milford
Season includes strolling musicians, surprise giveaways, extended shopping hours, hayrides

The Milford Downtown Development Authority will roll out its most ambitious holiday season yet with a sparkling package of special events and promotions as part of “Thursdays Unwrapped: A Holiday on Main,” in downtown Milford beginning on Thursday, Nov. 18.

Thursday visitors can expect a variety of all-new downtown happenings, including 500 luminaries along Main Street; strolling musicians; cider, donuts and other assorted treats, courtesy of Diehl’s Orchard & Cider Mill, who will have a tent at the Village of Milford clock; YMCA-sponsored babysitting: hayrides from 5 to 9 p.m. downtown to view decorated homes participating in the first Village of Milford holiday decorating contest; a commemorative “Thursdays Unwrapped” envelope to store your shopping receipts with info on all special events; and free events and treats at participating downtown shops and restaurants.

The Village will be transformed with twinkling lights and holiday décor throughout the entire season of course, with Thursday Nov. 18 and Dec. 9, 16 and 23 hosting some very special events, including:

  • Find the Angels Singing – Find the red vinyl ‘45’ record somewhere in a participating store, and enter to win a $100 shopping spree. Winners will be contacted and announced on www.meetmeinmilford.com as well.
  • Holiday Storytelling – Interactive live storytelling on Dec. 9 and 16, courtesy of the Milford Historical Society.
  • Dinner’s on Us -- Dining downtown with friends? On Nov. 18 & Dec. 9, 16 23, dozens of lucky parties will have their tabs picked up for their meal at dinner and during the day as well, up to $100 each, sponsored by the Milford Business Association.
  • Holiday Decorating Contest – The winner receives dinner for two to a downtown restaurant and a $100 shopping spree downtown, sponsored by the Milford Business Association. Visitors can even take free hayrides from 5 to 9 p.m. to tour the decorated homes.

The downtown district has always been a hidden one-stop gem for holiday shoppers looking for unique and one-of-a-kind gifts.This year, downtown merchants will extend their hours to 8 p.m. Monday-Wednesday and Friday; and to 9 p.m. on Thursdays – so come downtown to shop, dine, and then hit the stores once more.

Upcoming Holiday Events in Downtown Milford:

  • Thursday, Nov. 18, 6:30 p.m.: “The Big Reveal”
o   Come to Downtown Milford for the official unveiling of the merchants’ highly-anticipated Christmas window displays. The merchants have invited their customers’ children to help pull the curtains for the big reveal, setting up what’s sure to be a magical evening for all ages.

o   Saturday, Nov. 27, 10 a.m.: The annual Christmas Parade, sponsored by the Huron Valley Chamber of Commerce.

  • Thursday, Dec. 2, 5 to 9 p.m.: Annual Christmas Open House
    • Come for Santa’s arrival at 6 p.m., but don’t forget a canned or dry food item for a neighbor in need. Exchange it in Center Street Park for a candle, then join the holiday carolers in festive merriment. Enjoy nostalgic carriage rides through town, babysitting services provided by the YMCA and much more.
