The Goodwill Industries Ben & Jerry's PartnerShop in downtown Detroit will hand out FREE 4-oz ice cream cones in select flavors to anyone who stops by Tuesday, April 12, as part of Free Cone Day. The PartnerShop, owned and operated by Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit, provides paid work experiences for Southeast Michigan youth facing employment challenges.

The Free Cone Day menu features the customer’s choice of Vanilla, Strawberry Cheesecake, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Americone Dream or the newest Ben & Jerry’s Flavor – Late Night Snack.

PartnerShop employees receive training in resume-building and personal skills development, helping them gain important skills to prepare for the future. Proceeds from the PartnerShop support Goodwill Industries training and career development programs.

The PartnerShop also is kicking off special deals through Foursquare.com, a location-based social network, that offers businesses the chance to reward repeat and loyal customers. Ice cream fans who check-in from a mobile phone at the Detroit Ben & Jerry’s online venue at Foursquare.com will be able to buy one cup or cone and get one free. Users holding the virtual title of mayor (the Foursquare user with the most check-ins at the specific location) will get an extra scoop of ice cream for free.

Celebrating its 90-year history, Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit has placed more than 2,000 Wayne, Oakland and Macomb County individuals into new jobs  in the past two years and provides education, training and career assistance to thousands more in the region.

"It's a great thing to see these young adults, who have overcome so much, laughing, smiling and even singing while handing out the free cones," said Lorna G. Utley, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit. "The PartnerShop exists to prepare them for successful careers. It is an important component of our regional mission to help Metro Detroiters earn jobs by overcoming any and all employment challenges."
