Living for the (FREE) Weekend in Detroit - April 8th - 10th

Here is a highlight of the FREE and low cost activities you can do this weekend in the metro Detroit area and beyond:

Friday is the opening day of the Detroit Tiger Baseball season and McDonald's has tons of FREEBIES for the big Detroit Tiger opening game. The McDonald's McCafe Samples Truck will be in Grand Circus Park giving out FREE samples of their newest Smoothie flavor, Mango Pineapple Smoothie, $10 Arch Cards, blue and orange Mardi Gras beads, t-shirts, and Be Our Guest cards for a FREE Small Smoothie.


Goodwill Ben & Jerry's PartnerShop inside the Compuware building at Campus Martius is celebrating the Tiger's Opening Day with their own opening day sale with a 10 percent discount off all Ben & Jerry’s orders and a chance for all patrons to win Tigers baseball tickets for a game later this season.

Join 98.7 AMP Radio on Friday for the FREE Tiger Opening Day Block Party in Grand Circus Park, across from Comerica Park. Enjoy live music from Sgt. Rock on the Music Stage before and after the game, get autographs from Tigers Alumni, try out the interactive games and more.


Friday is the last day to enter the Michigan Business Reboot Contest. One Michigan based business will win a completely FREE $75,000 marketing and public relations makeover by Brogan & Partners, one of the leading advertising and marketing agencies in Michigan.


This Friday and every Friday until Easter, get 25% off your food bill at Coach Insignia or No.VI Chophouse restaurants.

Detroit Restaurant Week continues Friday through Sunday, April 10th. Eat at some of Downtown Detroit's finest restaurants for one all inclusive price per person. Yummy and good on the wallet. Hurry because it ends on Sunday.


Take the kids this weekend to the FREE Butterfly House Exhibit at Oakland Mall in Troy, MI. Experience the wonder of Oakland Mall's interactive butterfly house, display and craft activities. This exhibit is located on the lower level near JCPenney.


On Saturday is the FREE Family Fun Day with local authors at Panera locations in Southgate, Sterling Heights, Lathrup Village and Troy. Children will have the opportunity to participate in educational crafts, cookie decorating and reading activities. Local authors will also be on-site reading their books to the kids.


On Saturday, go to Eastland Mall at 11am and/or Northland Mall at 2pm for the Golden Easter Egg Hunt.  There will be lots of FREE fun including crafts, and treats.  And One child will win a $50 Gift Card at each mall if they find the Golden Egg. My son won the $50 Gift Card last year at Northland Mall!


On Saturday at 2pm, go to the Ann Arbor Water Place Borders for a  Meet & Greet with Historical Romance Author Cheryl Ann Smith.  Cheryl will be reading from her new book "The School for Brides". 


Make sure you tune in to HGTV on Saturday night to watch the official reveal of the HGTV "Green" House.  This is one very fashionable home built in the Frank Lloyd Wright prairie style, with an open floor plan that is modern and eco-friendly.  Starting on April 14th, you can enter to win this house plus a new 2011 GMC Terrain and $100,000!
