Living for the (FREE) Weekend in Metro Detroit - August 19th - 21st

Here is a list of the FREE and low cost activities that you can do in Detroit and beyond this weekend....


The movie remakes "Fright Night" and "Conan the Barbarian" are opening in theaters on Friday. But are they any good? Don't spend your hard earned money until you read the movie reviews by guest movie critique Liz Parker.  (REVIEW LINKS will go live at Midnight EST).

On Friday night is the FREE Art on Woodward Gallery Exhibition in Ferndale from 5-9pm where you can see auto related art by featured artists Tom Hale, Greg Siff and Maya Fardoun. And the event continues for the Woodward Dream Cruise until 10pm with complimentary appetizers, Wine, Beer and Pop.  All are welcome.

On Saturday, make history by taking your family to Belle Isle to help break the Guinness World Record for the largest dodge ball game at  the "Dodgeball in the D" event. There will also be FREE Food, FREE Entertainment, and Giveaways.


Going to the Woodward Dream Cruise on Saturday?  Then stop over at 32801 Woodward Avenue (at Samoset) in Royal Oak beginning at 10 am where volunteers from the NCJW will hand out FREE bottles of water and coupons to their nonprofit resale shops while supplies last.


Saturday is the last day to get a FREE 8x10 collage print from Walgreens.com.  Just use the special code in the post when you order and you can pick up your print for FREE. Remember to order the print before the code expires. You can do a pickup at anytime.


The FREE 2011 Selfridge Air Show and Open House will take place on Saturday August 20th and Sunday August 21st in Mt. Clemens, MI. Gates will be open to the public at 8 a.m. and the main air shows start around 11am daily. There will also be FREE entertainment for the kids and FREE parking.



Sunday is the last day to  Save $12 on Cedar Point Tickets when you Pick-A-Date thru 8/21  If you are going to Cedar Point this weekend, use this deal to save on your admission tickets.


Sunday, residents of St. Claire Shores can get FREE Admission to DIA as part of the Museum’s Inside Out Project. St. Claire Shores residents who provide a driver’s license or state ID on Sunday will receive four free general admissions.

... and remember that all active military personnel and their families get FREE Admission to the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) thru Labor Day. The DIA offers an array of great art and activities during the summer. The popular exhibition It’s a Zoo in Here! Prints and Drawings of Animals is on view and a new installation of puppets is also on display.
