Here is a list of the FREE and low cost activities that you can do in Detroit and beyond this weekend....

Friday from Noon-2pm, you can get FREE ice cream and meet the Detroit Tigers mascot Paws at the new Comerica Bank Headquarters on Lafayette Ave. in Downtown Detroit. The event is free and open to the public. Comerica executives will be dressed in old fashioned ice cream parlor attire, “serving” up thanks to the community for its support.

The movies "Our Idiot Brother" and "Colombiana" are opening in theaters on Friday. But are they any good? Don't spend your hard earned money until you read the movie reviews by guest movie critique Liz Parker.  (REVIEW LINKS will go live at Midnight EST).

If you are going to the movies, staring Friday, you can get 50% off at Large Popcorn and Drink using this coupon at your local AMC Theater.  I do like when food is yummy and cheap.

How about a FREE MOVIE courtesy of Blockbuster Express? Using a special promo code, Blockbuster Express will give you the first night FREE on any Steve Carell movie.  This offer expires on Friday so HURRY!

Get your 1st Drink FREE at Metro Times Drinks x Design Event on Friday starting at 5:30pm at The Bronx Bar on Second Street in downtown Detroit. Drinks x Design is a monthly happy hour event for Detroit's creative community, hosted by the Detroit Creative Corridor Center (DC3) in partnership with Metro Times.  1st FREE drink is only available between 5:30pm - 7:30pm.

Want a FREE bagel and cream cheese for breakfast and a FREE Pizza for Lunch or Dinner?  When go to your computer and signup for the Bruegger's eNewsletter to get a coupon for a FREE Bruegger's Bagel and Cream Cheese and signup for the Dolly's Pizza eNewsletter that will score you a coupon for a FREE small pizza. YUMMY and FREE!

Saturday is the FREE Lowes Build and Grow Workshop where the kids will be building a cool locker just in time for Back-to-School.  Remember to RSVP if you are attending this event.

Saturday kids can get FREE School Supplies, Hair Cuts, Food, and Giveaways at Delta Sigma Theta Detroit "Back To School Extravaganza".  Someone will even win a new computer.  Don't miss it.

On Saturday night, make sure you tune in to HGTV for the reveal of their 2011 Urban Oasis Dream Home in the Trump Towers in Chicago.  HGTV is giving away this $785,000 home with all the furnishings. Or the winner can give back the home and get $675,000 in CASH! HELLO!  ENTER HERE

Sunday, residents of Sterling Heights can get FREE Admission to DIA as part of the Museum’s Inside Out Project. Sterling Heights residents who provide a driver’s license or state ID on Sunday will receive four free general admissions.

... and remember that all active military personnel and their families get FREE Admission to the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) thru Labor Day. The DIA offers an array of great art and activities during the summer. The popular exhibition It’s a Zoo in Here! Prints and Drawings of Animals is on view and a new installation of puppets is also on display.
