#31DBBB Challenge: 31 Days to a better blog (+ a discount)

Problogger 31 Day Challenge to a better blog

I have been blogging for almost 2 1/2 years and there are still lots of things that I don't know about blogging.  They say it's good to know that you don't know it all.  So, I'm taking the Problogger 31 Day Challenge with the SITS Girls Community.

This challenge gives bloggers 31 activities to do that will improve their blogs. I took this challenge earlier this year with Marianna from the blog Riding With No Hands but we only made it through 16 of the 31 days before fatigue and family set in. Hopefully this time I will make it to the end.

The actvities are based on Darren Rowse's ProBlogger’s e-book, 31 Days to Build a Better Blog. If you are a blogger and want to follow along with the challenge and buy your own copy of the e-book, be sure to use coupon code BlogFrog25 to get 25% off the price of the ebook. The final price will be $14.95. (Now you knew I had to throw a deal in this post somewhere)

Darren Rowse is helping all the participants in the challenge by following us all on Twitter and providing some guidance along the way. Click here to read Darren's helpful hints.

I will be giving weekly status along the way so follow along on my journey to better blogging.  Here are the first week of assignments:

Day 1: Write an Elevator Pitch for Your Blog
Day 2: Write a List Post
Day 3: Promote a Blog Post
Day 4: Analyze a top blog in your niche
Day 5: Email a blog reader
Day 6: 27 must-read tips and tutorials for bloggers
Day 7: Write a link post

For Monday's assignment, I actually wrote my elevator pitch when I first started blogging and it really has not changed much since then -

FREE IS MY LIFE is the place to be for freebies, deals, discounts, and reviews in Detroit and beyond.

I use this tag line in the header for my blog, on my business cards and on every email that I send out.  My goal is for my blog to be 80% about freebies, 15% about coupons, deals, discounts, reviews/giveaways, 5% about charities and mainly about metro Detroit (with a little travel thrown in on the side).

Follow the Twitter hashtag #31DBBB if you want to see how the 300+ woman bloggers are doing that are part of this challenge.

Enjoy!
