Last month, I attended a blogger event at Friendship Circle in West Bloomfield where I met a very cool mom named Marlowe Bechmann. Marlowe was entertaining the kids at the event by singing jamming songs. Both Marlowe and her music partner Lizzle make up the mom band called Swingset Mamas. These Mamas are some definitely cool and talented ladies that know how to rock-and-roll and entertain a crowd.
Marlowe asked if I would like to review their DVD called "Swing, Dance and Sing
". This DVD has a little something for preschool kids all the way up to my son who is a tween at 10 years old. This was a review that I truly enjoyed because for 49 minutes, I got to be a kid again and act silly dancing and singing along to the music. The music on the "Swing, Dance and Sing" DVD is entertaining and educational. The music encourages kids to eat right, read books, wear their sunscreen, take a bath when they are dirty, and clean up their toys and dirty clothes - all while dancing around and being silly. I totally enjoyed the song on how to get dressed since my son still needs a lesson or two in that area. My favorite song on the DVD is "The Colors of Rainbow" that teaches kids colors and eating right while dancing to a Caribbean beat and the best video on the DVD is the "Sunscreen Lotion" song where everyone is having fun riding surf boards.
For older kids and adults, the DVD contains special features on how the "Swing, Dance and Sing" DVD was made. Since kids these days are into making their own videos, these special features can teach kids about coming up with a video concept, casting, camera angles and setting up video scenes. The DVD also contains a CD sampler of 5 Swingset Mamas songs.
