Sisters Acquiring Financial Empowerment (SAFE) 4th Annual Appreciation Event 7/30 GIVEAWAY - ENDS 7/24 (CLOSED)

Party with a Purpose at the Detroit Historical Museum!

According to The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV), approximately one out of four women will experience some form of domestic violence during her lifetime. Compared to all who were violently victimized, those whose assaults were perpetrated by a partner are the most likely victims to seek employment after an assault.  Abusers utilize power and control to restrict access to financial resources, which ultimately limits options for the abused to leave their abusive situation.

What is SAFE?
Sisters Acquiring Financial Empowerment (SAFE) helps victims of domestic abuse  in the Southeastern Michigan community find employment. SAFE is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit that is a part of several anti-violence initiatives within Southeastern Michigan including, Wayne County Council Against Family Violence and Transformation Detroit. SAFE was started by Detroiter Kalyn Risker who is herself a survivor of domestic violence.  I met Kalyn through FREEISMYLIFE and I can tell you that she is one dedicated, hardworking woman who is walking in her purpose through helping other woman to rise above their circumstances.

What does SAFE do?
Sisters Acquiring Financial Empowerment (SAFE) services are free of charge to victims of domestic violence. SAFE’s training equips survivors of domestic violence with the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to end the cycle of economic abuse, while maintaining their personal safety. In addition to offering training sessions at various public locations such as public libraries, and hospitals, SAFE also offers training courses to survivors of domestic violence through existing domestic violence shelters and support programs.
