Living for the (FREE) Weekend in Metro Detroit - July 8th - 10th

Here is a list of the FREE and low cost activities that you can do in Detroit and beyond this weekend....


Friday is the opening day for the new movie "Zookeeper" staring Kevin James and "Horrible Bosses" with an all star cast.  But are they any good?  Make sure you read the movie reviews by guest blogger Liz Parker before you spend your hard earned money.

Friday at 7:30pm is the FREE Rockin' on the Riverfront Summer Concert with "Three Dog Night" who will perform hits such as "Mama Told Me Not to Come", "Joy to the World" and "Black and White" on the beautiful Detroit Riverfront.  And while you are on the riverfront, remember that Andiamo has BOGO entrees available all month with this coupon....


The FREE Admission Uncle Sam Jam Festival runs Friday through Sunday in Woodhaven, MI with FREE Friday night fireworks, carnival rides and games, interactive displays and attractions, petting farm and camel rides and FREE concerts all weekend long!


Starting Friday at 11am and ending Sunday at 5pm is the 32nd Annual Plymouth Art in the Park Festival where visitors can view tons of art, hear FREE live music and kids can build art with Legos and win prizes. Be sure not to miss it.


Friday through Sunday is the “Shop, Rock & Stroll” in Downtown Milford where participating retailers will offer deals up to 75 percent off at apparel, art, jewelry and home furnishing boutiques. While adults will snag bargains at approximately 20 participating stores, children can enjoy six different inflatable rides, face painting and more.


Saturday is the FREE Lowes Build and Grow Kids Workshop where your child your child can build this awesome Tow Truck which comes with stickers and a working tow hook!


Sunday is FREE Admission day to the Detroit Institute of Art (DIA) for residents in the Michigan cities of Howell and Brooklyn as part of the Museum’s Inside Out Project.  Each city resident of Howell or Brooklyn can get up to 4 FREE general admission tickets by showing their drivers license or State ID.


Sunday is the last day to use this coupon to get an extra 30% off at your local Coach Factory Store.  Nothing like a little retail therapy to end your weekend.


... and remember that all active military personnel and their families get FREE Admission to the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) thru Labor Day. The DIA offers an array of great art and activities during the summer. The popular exhibition It’s a Zoo in Here! Prints and Drawings of Animals is on view, and on June 29 a new installation of puppets was put on display.
