FREE 21st Annual Safety Street Halloween Party 10/29 4-7pm University of Detroit Mercy

Funny how kids are not scared of a corpse as long at it is covered in candy...
This University of Detroit Mercy Halloween Party is one of the best in the city!

The Safety Street celebration was started 21 years ago to give the kids that live around the University of Detroit Mercy a safe place to trick-or-treat on Halloween.  The students of U of D construct a city made from cardboard and all the kids trick-or-treat along the cardboard town.  It is really too cool!

So come to the 21st Annual Safety Street dressed in your favorite costume. There will be trick-or-treating, free face painting, and a best costume contest at 6pm for grades K-5th.

I took my son to this event last year and he came home loaded down with candy.    Here are a few photos:

These characters lived in the Haunted Cardboard House...
Sorority Girls know how to party on Halloween. They gave out good candy too...
You never know who you're going to meet on this street...
