FREE Jazzin’ on Jefferson Festival 6/26 - 6/27

Jazzin´on Jefferson is back for its 7th year on Saturday June 26th and Sunday June 27th 2010.

Jazzin' on Jefferson first shut down the streets in 2004 to bring jazz, blues, food, arts and crafts, and other activities to Detroit's lower Eastside. Since that time it has grown to a two-day long event that draws over 18,000 people. This event brings the community together to celebrate the rich history of the neighborhood and highlight the work that is being done to create its future. Jazzin' on Jefferson features a number of local and national artists.

Thanks to the generous support of the Target Corporation, in 2010 the Children´s area has been greatly expanded. New festival features include:

-The Scholastic Book Fair Sponsored by the Junior League of Detroit and Merit Academy
-Arts & Crafts Activities
-Family Friendly Performances
-Buskers, Street Entertainers & More-

The Detroit Community Health Connection will be on hand to conduct free health screenings and returning from last year will be Jazzin´ on Jefferson´s popular Civic Literacy Tent. This tent will allow political candidates, office holders and other political organizations to communicate with the 40,000+ patrons that are expected to attend the festival about your political goals and civic activism.
