REVIEW: 10th Annual Detroit Pistons Kids Day Job Shadow Program is all Fun and Play

My son was one of many kids shadowing Palace employees on Detroit Pistons Annual Kids Day
Every Kid Should Get to Work for the Pistons...

For the 2nd year in a row, my son was selected to be part of the Annual Detroit Pistons Kids' Day Job Shadow Program.  He had such a great time last year, that I made sure to get in his application to participate again this year.

The program took place on MLK Day and involves kids shadowing Palace & Sports Entertainment employees in guest services, housekeeping, suite services, merchandising, the box office, game operations (reporters and announcers), multimedia, and restaurant services. There were also kids assigned as "Team look-alikes" who dressed up in full team uniforms and took the place of the starting players in the line-up.  The shadowing goes on for the first quarter and then the kids get to watch the rest of the game with us parents.

For a "salary" each child received 2 FREE tickets to the game, a special kids day t-shirt and a Detroit Pistons duffel bag that contained a few goodies.

My son working in the Palace Store...
Last year, my son was a greeter in the VIP section which he really enjoyed.  This year, he equally enjoyed working in merchandising in the Palace Store.  He even received a special treat of some "sweet" Pistons gear. And on top of all this greatness, the Detroit Pistons spanked the Dallas Mavericks!

This is a wonderful program that gives kids a great behind the scenes look at how a business is run and I have to commend Palace Sports and Entertainment for another great Kids' Day.
