Time to "Light up the Season"...

Get bundled up and bring the family down to Campus Martius Park this Friday, November 16, 2012 starting at 6:30pm for the official City of Detroit Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.

Leading up to the lighting of the tree at 8pm there will be entertainment including ice skating performances from the Detroit Skating Club and the Arctic Figure Skating Club and live musical performances by Detroit vocalist KEM, the Michigan Philharmonic Orchestra Brass Quintet, and the Metropolitan Opera Theatre Children’s Chorus.  Even Santa will be on hand for all the fun.

This year’s holiday tree is a 55-foot Norway Spruce from Manton, Michigan dressed with more than 19,000 LED Lights.

This event is FREE and open to the public.  But there is a fee if you want to ice skate before or after the ceremony.

For those who don't want to brave the possible cold weather, you can watch the City of Detroit Tree Lighting Ceremony on WXYZ TV/Channel 7 starting at 7:30pm on Friday.
