Living for the (FREE) Weekend in Metro Detroit - May 14th - May 16th

Here is a highlight of the FREE activities you can do this weekend in the metro Detroit area and beyond:

On Friday May 14th, the movie JUST WRIGHT opens in theatres staring Queen Latifah and Common so make sure that you download the 50 minutes of FREE JUST WRIGHT-Inspired music put together just for you by Common.  This mix is very cool!

Henry Ford Hospital is offering a FREE Hearing Loss Screening & Seminar on Friday at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.  Presented by hearing loss advocate and Henry Ford hearing aid technician Liz Kobylak, this talk will focus on the everyday challenges of living with hearing loss and the devices that can assist in better hearing.  The Free Hearing Screening will be offered from 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and the Free Living with Hearing Loss Seminar is from 2:30 - 4 p.m.

Also on Friday, head over to IKEA where KIDS EAT FREE. If you cannot make it on Friday, kids eat free on Saturday and Sunday too!

On Saturday, there will be an OPEN CASTING CALL for local Detroit talent as extras in the DREAMWORKS STUDIOS’ FEATURE FILM “REAL STEEL”.  This is scheduled to happen from 11:00 A.M to 4:00 P.M. at 1501 Maple Lane Troy, Michigan 48084.

Sunday is the annual  Flower Day at the Eastern Market.   Attended by more than 150,000 people annually, Flower Day at the Eastern Market is one of the largest flower shows in the country. Each year, Eastern Market offers FREE activities as part of Flower Day.  The Children's Merry Market Land will be offered from 9AM - 4PM and will offer face-painting, clowns, train rides, flower pot painting, hands-on activities, butterfly habitat, a farm animal corral and crafts for kids of all ages.  My son LOVES the train rides that go around the edge of Eastern Market.  The train even has a working train whistle!
Flower Day will also offer the Wacky Wagon Contest from 7AM - 12PM where the winners will get prizes including an array of gardening items donated by Metropolitan Detroit Flower Growers Association.  And there will be Ask the Experts from 8AM - 4PM where you can get your questions answered for FREE about gardening, planting vegetables, flowers and trees and water quality.
