Living for the (FREE) Weekend in metro Detroit - September 17th - 19th

Detroit Lions play on Sunday
Here is a highlight of the FREE activities you can do this weekend in the metro Detroit area and beyond:

Starting Friday and running through Sunday is the celebration of the opening of the NEW Lego Store at Somerset Mall in Troy. Help build an eight foot tall Buzz Lightyear and get Lego freebies all weekend long.

Goodwill's "Donate for Jobs" continues Friday through Sunday in Canton and at the Detroit Lions Game in downtown Detroit.  Come bring your clothing and household donations to help area residents that are out of work.

This Friday is the opening day for the movie "Easy A" and the movie "The Town".  Be sure to read these movie reviews by critic Liz Parker before you go.  If you are going to the movies at an Emagine Theater on Friday, use this  coupon to get $5 off $5+ concession purchase.  Friday is the last day to use this great coupon.

The FREE Ferndale DIY Street Fair starts Friday and runs through Sunday. Come see local artists, crafters, businesses, groups and organizations, musicians, restaurants, brewers and others who live and work with a do-it-yourself ethic converge for one big celebration. There will be music, kids activities and lots of beer.

Friday is the last day to enter the Detroit Tiger Suite Contest to win tickets for 9/20 to hang with Christopher Knight from The Brady Bunch.  Make sure you enter by 5pm on Friday.

On Friday and Saturday evenings, the Matt Prentice Restaurant Group is offering 25% off at all their venues including the Coach Insignia at the top of the Ren Cen.  You have to bring a copy of the email on my website to get the discount.

On Saturday, stop by your local Borders Books for a FREE Seuss-ical Celebration.  There will be story time, games, crafts and more.

Head down to the Eastern Market on Saturday for the FREE "Taste of the Eastern Market" Cooking Series from 10am to noon.  Chef Holly White from the Detroit Zymology Guild will be doing a cooking demo. Come on down for your FREE samples.  Click here for a "Taste of the Eastern Market" schedule for the rest of 2010.

Have a wonderful and blessed weekend,
