Discover the Edsel & Eleanor Ford Love Story - and WIN a Date at the Ford House - CONTEST ENDS 9/15 (CLOSED)

Love. Innovation. Beauty - The Ford House

One of the things that I love about living in metro Detroit is that this area is part of the rich history of America.  We have many claims to fame, one of which is our wonderful automobile history with the Ford Family. The Edsel & Eleanor Ford House is a beautiful landmark in Grosse Pointe Shores where visitors can view the splendor of the grounds and also learn the grand story of Edsel and Eleanor Ford and their family.

Love at First Sight
Do you know the story of Edsel and Eleanor Ford?  It is said that Edsel, the only son of Henry Ford, fell in love at first sight with his wife Eleanor. Their romance is apparent in the lovely home that they built in Grosse Pointe, MI for their family. Eighty six acres of breathtaking lakefront grounds provide a serene setting to relax and escape.

Technology brings the past to life
The Edsel & Eleanor Ford House continues the Ford family legacy of innovation and technology with the launch of its own iPhone and iPad application and interactive tour. The app is now available free of charge on iTunes and as a web app for most smartphones. Pre-loaded iPod Touches are also provided on-site to guests.

This interactive application was created to place Ford House visitors in the driver’s seat of cutting-edge storytelling. The app contains 60 minutes of exclusive content, never-before-seen archival footage that was previously unavailable to the public, and offers unparalleled access to one of the nation’s most treasured families.

The app explores both the interiors and exteriors of the home, including the lakeside lawn, the lagoon, the swimming pool, the flower garden, the meadow, the boat house, the garage, the Bird Island peninsula and more.

Visit the Ford House Today and Experience it All!
Admission to Ford House, which includes a guided tour and use of an iPod Touch, is $12 per person, $11 for seniors and $8 for children six to 12 years old, with children 5 and under free. iPod Touch rental is $5 for guests who have purchased grounds-only admission, and free for Ford House members. Guests may also download the free app and use their own smartphone on the tour.
